Hotspot & Laptop Kits

in 2023, The Caribou Public Library received a $5,000 grant through the Maine State Libraries "ARPA Remote Work Through Libraries". The funds of this went to designing a Hotspot and Laptop Lending Program at no cost to the patrons of our library. These kits are designed for users who need to work from home and those who need access to technology for digital literacy.

Mobile Beacon 5G LTE Hotspot
  • The Franklin Wireless T9 hotspot is a 5G LTE only hotspot is small, yet mighty. You’ll be able to connect up to 10 Wi-Fi devices simultaneously and enjoy long-range Wi-Fi, both indoors and out. The T9 hotspot gives you hours of connectivity while on-the-go.
  • Up to 10 hours of continuous use
  • The hotspot can be used at any location within the Mobile Beacon coverage area

What's in the Kits?

There are 2 different styles of kits currently offered. Each kit has a Hotspot from Mobile Beacon along with a charger. We have 7 kits that have a Hotspot as well as a laptop with a wired keyboard, mouse, and headset.

Who can have one?

Any adult library card holder of the Caribou Public Library that is in good standing with no fines may request a kit.

What does it cost?

These are paid for by the "Remote Work Through Libraries Grant" and are FREE to borrow and use!

How long can I have it for?

There is a 14-day loan period for these kits, and each household is allowed 1 at a time. These may be renewed 1 time for an additional 14 days.

What if I lose a part of the kit?

As with other library materials, once you have checked out any Library-owned equipment, you are responsible for its care and that of any supplemental materials included in the kit. If any of the Library's property is lost or damaged, it will be your responsibility to pay the full cost of repair or replacement.

How do I get one?

All kits are available behind the Circulation Desk. You may reserve one online through our catalog, or contact front desk to place one aside for pickup.

Note to Users

Internet content filtering is NOT provided through the Emma Clark Library Wireless Hotspot. Parents/Guardians are responsible for monitoring what their children access.

The borrower is responsible for clearing personal content from borrowed devices before their return.  The Caribou Public Library and its employees will not be deemed responsible for any material remaining on the devices.
